Want to start off by saying thank you to National Bass West for a great tournament on a windy and rainy March day at Lake Pyramid.

First thing is I want to send prayers to my best friend Tim and his daughter Carly as everyone is thinking of you both in these trying times

As you have figured out, I fished solo today but Tim and Carly was in the boat for every cast.

Today was the first time we did not draw the last boat out, but 2nd to last Thanks Adam Gragg and Brandon! As I was paying up NBW said I was going to pull the chip for boat draw today. I was like, NO WAY and looked around and Adam and Brandon had been standing behind me, I said you guys pull the chip. I just signed up and was boat number 9. Brandon pulls the chip and he pulls #11… Dang it, I was not last boat out but 2nd to the last. The funny thing was that Adam and Brandon had not signed up yet and I kept my mouth shut as I watched then sign up right after me to figure out that Brandon pulling #11 and them signing up as boater 10 that he had just put them as the last boat out…LOL. That was too funny.

Started the day throwing the FishLab Tackle BBZ spinnerbait and 2.5”Flutter Nymph and stuck with those two baits all day long. Had a small limit by 9am and the bite Died!!!! It was brutal….

I Ran around the lake and by 1pm I was lost trying to figure out a place that had something going. I pulled up in an area that is known for fish but is always packed with boats. I found a corner spot and kept keeping my baits wet for something to happen.

Then something did happened and noticed another boater having trouble and figured it would be a good thing to try and help, so I did. Talk about good karma . I always carry and battey jumper in the boat for times when people are in need. Did it for years in the fire department and have lent it to more than a few at the lake to save a day.

After that I went back to the bank that had a few boats down it and they all left . I just sat there and started to watch things come alive with birds and baitfish starting to move. Within an hour I was able to cull out 3 small SMB and another solid upgrade . The boats started to come back and the bite died again but we had 17.04 in the boat. Today it paid to take the time to help someone and the reward was awesome.

It’s Truly A Team Thing

Here was the best part of the day and is something that really happened. As I went back over to the bank and was sitting there, I picked up a rod and said, OK Tim, stop playing around and it’s your time to catch us a fish…I made a cast and stuck the 4 pounder on that cast! I went down the bank a little ways and said out loud, Well Carly, I am thinking about you and you need to be apart of this and bring some Tuttle power to the game. I kid you not, I said it and on that cast I caught the 3.60, I mean Carly did! What an amazing day!
